Topic: Antiques in Florida and great places to shop! by Jeremy Lanier

I get out and about on occassion and I have had the pleasure of shopping for antiques in many different Florida towns.  My favorites shops are usually located on the sleepy sidestreets of towns that aren't spelled in bold print on area maps, if you know what I mean.  I like shops like those not because they have the best merchandise or the cheapest prices, but because they usually display the area flavor.  Tarpon Springs quickly leaps to mind.  With its numerous antiques shops and area sponge docks, which are a pleasure to visit, the area is also host to a rich assortment of Greek restaurants.  For anyone who has not tried Greek food, you are really missing out. Last time I drove over to Tarpon Springs from Kissimmee (which is actually quite a pleasurable 1 hour and some change drive) I happened into a fantastic store by the name of the Court of Two Sisters.  Run by some charming shop owners, the layout of the store is cleverly divided by theme with ample room for parousing without bumping elbows with fellow shoppers.  I especially loved one room in particular which was filled with antique kitchen implements, Aunt Jemima collectibles and wonderful 50's country memorabilia.  One could easily spend a couple hours in this store... I know I did. Ofcourse I could spend that much time in a 500 square foot store if the owners presented there wares in an interesting way.  The owners of the Court of Two Sisters clearly have honed their "presentation skills" as it was a delight to shop the store.  I would definitely suggest a day trip to Tarpon Springs.  Bring a camera, an appetite for good, healthy Greek food and an explorers attitude and you'll find much to enjoy in this charming Florida city.
